Troy Outscores Katella 17-1 in Double Header

It was a great day for Troy hitters in the first game of a double header.  Troy beat Katella 6-0.  There were many hitting stars in this game.  Allexis Bennett three runs scored, 2 stolen bases and a hit.  She continues to be a catalyst in the leadoff spot.  Jena Rubio 1-4 with a big homerun in the fifth inning.  Dani Applerose went 1-3 with a triple, one run score and a walk.  Morgan Conrad doubled in the forth.  Sam Mellano would have a huge day getting hit by a pitch in the first inning and then would go on a hitting tare going 3 for 3 with two doubles and a triple, hitting in the fourth spot.  Victoria Guillroy would pick up a line drive base hit up the middle in the seventh to score a run.  Sarah Fares would pick up her second shutout of the week going the distance.  She scattered three hits and struck out six to even her record 4-4.

The second game had even more runs as Troy won the game 11-1.  Morgan Conrad, pitching for the first time this season for Troy, would pick up the win going the distance as well as giving up a run on five hits with four stikeouts.

The offense scored 11 as Katella pitching walked 6 batters.  Allexis Bennett reached all five times up, collecting two hits, walking twice and scoring two runs.  Jena Rubio blasted her second homerun of the day.  Sam Mellano picked up her forth hit of the day.
Morgan Conrad got her second double of the day.  Tori Merida picked up a pinch hit single in the seventh.

Special Note: CJ Taitano would catch both games playing solid defense, collecting a couple of hits on the day and cutting down a base runner.  Taitano is looking to be one of the top catchers in the league.
